Solar-power battery air freshener with oscillating fan

A solar-power battery air freshener includes a housing with an oscillating fan for emitting a fragrance to the surrounding environment. A solar-power battery utilizes energy derived from natural sunlight or light emitted from a regular light fixture in order to provide power to an oscillating device wherein a fan is connected.

The oscillating device includes a circuit, a coil, and magnets connected to vertical iron plates. A bracket is attached to the iron plate in such a manner that a fan can be attached to the bracket. A fragrance container is located directly below the fan. The oscillating movement of the fan disperses the fragrance emitted from the fragrance container out of the housing through air vents and into the room or vehicle being freshened.

A solar-power air freshener device comprising a front cover and a back cover, said front cover including a front wall, a top wall, a pair of opposing side walls, and a bottom wall, said back cover including a back wall, a top wall, a pair of opposing side walls, and a bottom wall, wherein the front cover and back cover are attached to form a housing, said bottom wall having a hole provided therein, said side walls and said front cover having air vents permitting air flow, a fragrance container containing scented materials inserted and held on said bottom wall through said hole, a solar battery mounted on said top wall, and a pendulum driving device secured on said back wall, said pendulum driving device including a driving coil, wherein the energy from the solar battery energizes the pendulum driving coil, said driving coil being held between pivotally attached metal plates on a pendulum housing, each of the metal plates having a magnet attached thereon, and one of the metal plates having a pendulum extending downwardly thereon and a fan blade attached on said pendulum.

It can be appreciated that air freshener have been in use for years. Typically, air freshener are comprised of U.S. Pat. No. 5,342,584, an air freshener device and cartridge with battery as means of power. U.S. Pat. No. 3,711,023, an air freshener device utilizing an air conditioning system which releases the evaporated volatile substance into the air to produce an odor. U.S. Pat. No. 3,990,848, an air flow induction device air freshening apparatus with a fan mounted in the housing. A fan driven by a motor is connected with the battery. U.S. Pat. No. 4,647,428, a room air freshening device that uses light bulb for vaporization of liquid. It works when the light bulb is turned on to heat and vaporize fragrance to permeate the room. U.S. Pat. No. 4,808,347, an air freshening apparatus which is plugged into a standard cigarette lighter socket of vehicles, utilizing an electric motor within the housing with a peopeller fastened to its shaft.

The main problem with conventional air freshener are that, as in U.S. Pat. Nos. 5,342,584 and 3,990,848, the devices need the usage of batteries. The utilization of batteries to power the devices need more attention to the operation of the devices, need the constant change of batteries, add more cost to the device because of the cost of batteries. Another problem with conventional air freshener are that, as in U.S. Pat. No. 3,711,023, the device uses the air conditioning system to release the evaporated volatile substance into the air to produce an odor. The utilization of the air conditioning system makes the device depended on the time the air conditioning system is working. Another problem with conventional air freshener are that, as in U.S. Pat. No. 4,647,428, the room freshener device utilizes a light bulb that is plugged to the electrical system. The light bulb has to be turned on and at the same time consume electricity to function. Another problem with existing products is that, as in U.S. Pat. No. 4,808,347, the air freshening device is plugged into a standard device as in this case the cigarette lighter socket in a vehicle. Another problem with existing products is that, as in U.S. Pat. No. 4,808,347, the air freshening device is plugged into a standard cigarette lighter socket in a vehicle. Again, the device is dependent on another device as in this case the cigarette lighter, which on occasion may not be functioning.

While these devices may be suitable for the particular purpose to which they address, they are not as suitable for providing a device with solar-power battery utilizing the energy derived from natural sunlight or light emitted from regular room light fixture. The solar-power battery is operationaly connected to an oscillating device wherein a fan is connected. The oscillating or to and fro movement of the fan moves fragrance emitted from the volatile substance of the fragrance out of the housing to the room or vehicle being freshened.

In these respects, the solar-power battery air freshener with oscillating fan according to the present invention substantially departs from the conventional concepts and designs of the prior art, and in so doing provides an apparatus primarily developed for the purpose of providing a device with solar-power battery utilizing the energy derived from natural sunlight or light emitted from regular room light fixture. The solar-power battery is operationaly connected to an oscillating device wherein a fan is connected. The oscillating or to and fro movement of the fan moves fragrance emitted from the volatile substance of the fragrance out of the housing to the room or vehicle being freshened.

how do you make a solar powered fan?

how can i power a computer fan via solar power for my science project?
Basicaly for science i need to power a computer fan via solar power.. how exactly do i do this?

  3. Bramble says:

You first need some basic specification information:

    1. What size of fan (power) do you want? 50W would be quite big!

    2. Do you want to run the fan when there is no sunlight – e.g during the evening?

    3. How much time do you want to run the fan in the day and how many hours of sunshine do you expect

If yes to 2, then buy a solar cell, battery, two switches and fan. The cell should be for a slightly higher voltage than the battery (supplier will advise you on battery charging) and battery and fan should be of the same nominal voltage. A car battery (12v) would probably be best (cheapest) if not the smallest. Use your answer to 3 to decide on cell and battery sizes (watts and amp-hours respectively). The amp battery drain for 50 W will be 4A so a 40 amp-hour battery will give you 10h running time without charging

!f no to 2 then you can miss out the battery. The cell and fan should then be of the same nominal (full load) voltage.

I took out a solar power strip from my calculator, how do i use it for a mini fan?
I took out a solar power strip from my calculator, how do i use it for a mini fan? its just the strip alone, do i just stick wire onto it and plug it to my HOMEMADE fan?

  5. virtualguy92107 says:

Previous answer is correct, you probably won’t have enough power to run the fan. Make sure you know what the polarity of the strip is, hook it up to a supercap in parallel, that is plus to plus, then use a switch to connect the supercap to the fan. That’ll let you save up an hour’s charge from the pv strip to run the fan for probably several minutes if the fan’s small enough. The supercap has to be rated for the open-circuit voltage of the pv strip. There may be one in the dead calculator. You can use the pv strip as a battery charger, too, but you need to pay more attention to voltages ratings and the possibility of overcharge/self-discharge.

  6. The Alchemyst says:

First, pick out a computer fan. They should be marked with the type of voltage they require (such as 120 volts AC, or 12 volts DC), and the maximum amount of current they can draw at full speed (like 100 milliAmps). A fan running with less current, will still run, but will simply spin more slowly.

Try to find a fan that runs on DC voltage and current, as this should simplify your design. Many fans require AC.

Small solar cells typically produce DC voltage and current, which is why your design will be easier if you find a small fan that runs on DC. You may have to connect several solar cells in series to generate enough voltage (for example, if your fan needs 12 volts DC, and your solar cells put out only 6 volts DC, you would have to connect two of them end to end to make a total of 12 volts). You may have to connect several of the solar cells in parallel to generate enough current to make the fan move. It all depends on what voltage and current the fan requires, and how much oomph your solar cells can produce.

If you can only find fans that run on AC current, you will have to add an additional device called an alternator that converts DC current from the solar cells into AC current. Another possiblity is to find solar cells that have an AC output built in.
    Good luck, and have fun!

Want to use a solar powered fan to cool greenhouse durring summer?
The Green house is a springhouse so there are no heavy supports. There are two doors with mesh openings but heat still collects on the celling. I would love to hook up a solar powered fan system to create a breeze. I dont understand how to do it. I think there ma be a way to buy a solar panel with a battery charger and a couple of fans but not sure. Any help appreciated. thank you.
